Our Warranty Programs Offer You Protection For As Long As You Own Your System

American Standard limited warranties for homeowners:

Limited Manufacturer's Warranty

Your new equipment leaves our factory with an American Standard limited warranty that represents our confidence in the quality of our home comfort systems. In fact, our limited warranties are among the best available in the industry today. But a limited warranty is just that – limited. Eventually it will come to an end. That’s why we offer optional extended warranties. We understand that mechanical components occasionally need repair. Our optional extended warranty program was designed to give you complete peace of mind for the length of your agreement. Extended warranties cover labor, refrigerant and other costs not covered by the manufacturer’s limited warranty so you are covered for all parts and labor for the lifetime of the agreement.

A look at American Standard Optional Extended Warranties.

Ask your servicer or dealer about the program that fits your situation. Extended protection of your investment is a small price to pay for your peace of mind.

New Equipment

  • Option to purchase coverage in five (5) or ten (10) year increments to cover parts only, labor only, or parts and labor for the duration of the agreement. On certain selected equipment, heat exchangers can be covered up to 20 years.
  • Covers residential and light commercial units, 1-25 tons.
  • Fully transferable to the new owner if property is sold. Certain restrictions apply.

Older Equipment

  • Applies only to equipment that has been installed less than five (5) years.
  • Requires an independent American Standard dealer's inspection prior to coverage.
  • Requires a 30-day waiting period before it becomes effective.
  • Option to purchase coverage for parts only, labor only, or parts and labor.
  • Can purchase coverage one (1) year at a time until the equipment is ten (10) years old.* - or -
  • Can purchase five (5) or ten (10) year Extended Warranty Agreements. These agreements would start at the end of the thirty (30) day waiting period and would expire five (5) or ten (10) years after the install date.
  • Built-in product replacement advantage.
  • Fully transferable to the new owner if property is sold. Certain restrictions apply.

* Covers residential and light commercial units, 1-25 tons.

* Renewal is at the sole option of the American Standard Extended Warranty Department.

What is Covered?

As a rule of thumb ... any failure of an internal component is covered, unless it fails due to neglect, failure of the equipment owner to perform preventive maintenance, or an act of God. For more information, see the Warranty Component Chart.

What is Excluded?

  • Any routine maintenance. However, if during the performance of routine maintenance, a component is found to be faulty, and in the reasonable judgment of the servicer the component is expected to fail, the component and labor to replace it could be covered depending on the agreement coverage. Air filters, drain lines, condensate pumps, refrigerant lines, ducts, electrical wiring external of the equipment, or any other equipment not listed as a covered item on the extended warranty agreement.
  • Repairs to correct failures or malfunctions that are not considered manufacturing defects, such as damage or malfunctions resulting from fire, water, storms, earthquake, faulty power supply, theft, riot, misuse, abuse, or the improper selection, installation or application of the equipment.
  • American Standard requires that routine maintenance be performed as recommended in the owner’s manual to insure proper performance of the equipment. Repairs that are required due to lack of routine maintenance are not covered by the American Standard Extended Warranty Agreement. Your dealer can provide routine maintenance, which not only satisfies this condition of your extended warranty, but assures peak efficiency and safe operation of your equipment.
  • Any failure or malfunction caused by the failure of the equipment owner to perform preventive maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Repairs to alter the equipment to meet changes in federal, state or local codes or regulations.
  • Premium labor charges charged by the servicer for repairs, which are required during other than normal working hours.
  • Any freight on parts.
  • Welding supplies, shop rags, screws, bolts and nuts, or other miscellaneous items that could be considered "expendable items."
  • Any work performed by any servicer not approved by American Standard's Extended Warranty Department.
  • Failures or malfunctions on equipment installed in establishments with corrosive atmospheres such as dry cleaners, beauty shops, printing facilities, etc.
  • Failures or malfunctions on compressor bearing equipment in which the age of the equipment exceeds ten (10) years of age.
